Frequently Asked Questions
Straight answers about how the practice works, what care looks like, and how your privacy is protected. If something is not covered here, ask on the discovery call.
Plain answers. No sales language.
The Lieberman Center is a private psychiatric practice providing evaluation, diagnosis, and medication management, with psychotherapy available for a portion of the caseload. Care is delivered directly by Brad Lieberman, PMHNP-BC. There is no intake coordinator and no rotating provider. The person you consult with is the person who treats you.
The practice is built for professionals working in demanding environments: attorneys, finance and investment professionals, executives, and others whose work carries sustained cognitive load, public visibility, or performance scrutiny. Common presentations include anxiety and panic, depression and mood disorders, adult ADHD, occupational stress and burnout, and trauma.
Start by requesting a discovery call. It takes about two minutes and there is no lengthy paperwork upfront. Brad responds personally, usually within one business day, and the first step is a brief fifteen minute discovery call to discuss what you are looking for and confirm the practice is the right fit. There is no charge for that call and no obligation to continue.
Most new patients are seen within roughly forty eight hours of that first discovery call.
In-person appointments are held in Garden City on Mondays and in Midtown Manhattan on Thursdays. Both offices are private, professional settings with discreet entry and exit.
Yes. Virtual appointments are available to patients located anywhere in New York State and are held over a HIPAA-compliant platform. Many patients use a combination of virtual visits and periodic in-person sessions. If your schedule or travel makes a fixed office day impractical, virtual care is a full option rather than a lesser one.
This is the reason many patients choose the practice, so the answer is specific. Clinical records are maintained in HIPAA-compliant systems. Communication about your care goes to you, not to an administrative queue.
The larger point is structural. When care is billed through insurance, a claim is filed and a diagnosis code enters a payer database, where it can surface in ways patients do not anticipate. Patients seen directly by the practice pay privately and no claim is filed, so no diagnosis is transmitted to an insurer. For patients, the practical effect is simple: your care stays a direct relationship between you and your provider, not a data trail moving through third parties you never chose.
Fees are discussed openly on the discovery call before anything is scheduled, so you know the number before you commit. Payment is made directly to the practice at the time of service.
Yes. On request, the practice provides documentation you can submit to your insurer for out-of-network reimbursement. Many plans reimburse a portion of the fee once an out-of-network deductible is met. Whether your plan does, and at what rate, is between you and your insurer, and the practice makes no representation about what any given plan will pay.
Note that submitting for reimbursement does file information with your insurer. Patients who choose the practice specifically to avoid that record generally do not submit.
The practice is out of network with all insurance plans. Patients seen directly by The Lieberman Center pay privately and no claim is filed.
Separately, Brad maintains a limited insurance-based caseload through Headway, where he is credentialed with UnitedHealthcare, Oxford, Oscar, and Cigna. Availability there is limited and scheduled separately from the practice. View Headway availability.
